Press Release
Electric and Power Vietnam returns from the 17th to 19th September 2014

The latest technology and products from leading brands will be on display at Vietnam’s premier electric and power exhibition

Ho Chi Minh City, July 28th, 2014 – Electric and Power Vietnam 2014 will take place from the 17th to 19th September in Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC), marking the 5th return of the premier event for electric and power sector in Vietnam.

Electric and Power Sector in Vietnam: Strong growth ahead but challenges exists

Energy security remains a major concern for most developing countries. Accessibility to reliable, economical fuel sources to sustain and expand energy and power infrastructures in support of economic growth is important for global competitiveness. Vietnam, with a 5.5% GDP growth projection for 2014 (*) and 54.5% FDI increase year on year (**), remains sensitive to fuel and electricity prices which is required to grow her energy grid and power quality for its expanding manufacturing sector. Two major development fronts need to be addressed:

_ Power generation, where lately, due to reforms in the power sector, many independent power producers from Japan, Thailand, Korea, USA and many others have taken interest in the business potential in Vietnam and have embarked on many power potential projects such as Nghi Son 2, Vung Ang 2 and Van Phong 1, Vinh Tan, Thai Binh, and many others.
_ With new power stations comes new grid infrastructure – which needs to grow and with improved efficiency. The on-going challenge for Vietnam is to improve transmission efficiency of the existing infrastructure whilst expanding it as industrial parks are built further from current power distribution centres.

Electric and Power Vietnam: Brings the international technology elites to Vietnam

Electric and Power Vietnam, returning from the 17th to 19th September 2014 seeks to position itself as a technology marketplace for Vietnam in support of her growing grid and power infrastructure needs. A total of 104 international companies will be participating at this year’s event, showcasing diverse power engineering technologies and products from Germany, Denmark, US, Korea, Turkey, to Taiwan. Key exhibitors include ABB, AKSA power and a Korean Group from the Korea Electrical Manufacturers' Cooperative (KEMC).

Mr Richard Yue - Discrete Automation and Motion Division Manager - ABB Ltd said: "From the 2012 event, ABB have received tremendous amount of enquiries and request for more products and solutions from existing and new customers. This has proven that the exhibition itself has allowed us to cover a wider reach of the market.

In 2014 Electric and Power Exhibition, ABB will present the new products within Discrete Automation and Motions like the Motors, Drives, PLC as well as other products which have never been presented like Solar inverter, Power quality products (AVC & UPSI) and Medium Voltage Drives. In addition this year, ABB will also present some applications and solutions to our customers with topics such as “Harmonic, Voltage ride thru” as well as “Energy Efficiency”.“

Two featured conferences for electric and power industry’s leaders

Held in conjunction with Electric and Power Vietnam are two conferences, the first, organized by VINALAB will be on ISO50001 Energy Audit requirements, and the second, organized jointly by the Instrument and Control Society of Singapore (ICS) and Total Asset Management Systems Malaysia (TAMS) will concentrate on new power plant technologies and operational excellence case studies. With a combined industry experience of over 70 years, industry veterans: Mr Kwong Kok Chan - General Manager of SenokoPower, and President of ICS, and Mr Halim Osman - Managing Director of TAMS and secretary of CIRED Malaysia hopes to impart valuable hands on experience and knowledge to delegates at the ICS/TAMS power engineering and management seminar.
