  • Co-organized by the Netherlands Embassy in Vietnam and Informa Markets Vietnam, the webinar will bring together relevant players, policy-makers, and government agencies from the Vietnamese and Dutch e-mobility sectors.

Hanoi & Ho Chi Minh City, 2 March, 2022 – Co-organized by the Netherlands Embassy in Vietnam and Informa Markets Vietnam, the webinar entitled “HOW TO BECOME A FRONT RUNNER IN E-MOBILITY? Mobilizing Dutch know-how for the future of Vietnam’s mobility” will be taking place on Thursday, 10 March 2022 on Zoom platform.

The webinar will bring together relevant businesses, experts and policy-makers from the e-mobility sector of Vietnam and the Netherlands. The aim of the webinar is to provide participants with the current context, challenges, and opportunities with regards to e-mobility development in Vietnam, how the Netherlands has emerged as one of the global front runners in e-mobility, as well as discuss the best and less-best practices for Vietnam and the outlook for the coming years. The webinar will also shed light on the VinFast story as a major development in Vietnam, and how VinFast is geared towards the future of smart mobility.

The list of high-caliber speakers participating in the event includes, but is not limited to: H.E. Ms. Elsbeth Akkerman, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Hanoi, Vietnam; Mr. Filippo Bortoletti, Director Vietnam, Dezan Shira & Associates; Mr. Emiel Hendriksen, Vice President, B2B Sales, VinFast Europe; Mr. Baerte de Brey, Vice President of The European Association for Electromobility, Chief International Officer of ElaadNL; and Mr. Christoph Prommersberger, Deputy Head of Mission, the Netherlands Embassy Vietnam;

In Vietnam, the e-mobility market is still in its emerging stage, but the development is fast and dynamic, illustrated by the global expansion of the Vietnamese EV manufacturer VinFast. The Government of Vietnam supports local e-mobility development with fee reductions and tax incentives, and given its ambitious climate objectives (net-zero emissions in 2050), more stimulation policies for this sector are expected in the years to come.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands has been one of the global front runners in e-mobility for many years now, not only in the roll-out of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure but also in the development of new technologies and services. The Netherlands is among the top 5 countries whose EVs make up the highest percentage of their passenger car fleets. And no other country has the same density of charging stations with 77,000 plug-in points by mid- 2021. By 2030, the country sets a target that all new passenger vehicles sold in the Netherlands will have to be electric.

“Vietnam and the Netherlands have been close economic partners for many years. The Netherlands is amongst the largest foreign investors and trading partners of Vietnam. Both countries have shared ambitions to become climate neutral and to green their economies. Sustainable mobility will, next to other sectors like renewable energy and energy efficiency, play a key role in that transformation process. While the Netherlands is currently one of the global leaders in electric mobility, this transition is just starting to take off in Vietnam. We look forward to sharing Dutch knowledge and experience on e-mobility with Vietnam, between governments, businesses and knowledge institutes.” H.E. Ms. Elsbeth Akkerman, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Vietnam, further shared.
