Chinese solar panel maker Trina Solar plans to expand its investment in northern Thai Nguyen province with an additional $420 million, the Government News has reported.

At a meeting with provincial authorities on November 5, the company proposed the implementation of the third phase of an energy plant project at the Yen Binh Industrial Park, where its two existing plants are located. The plants built during the first and second phase of the project are operating with total registered investment of $478 million.

Deputy Secretary of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Trinh Viet Hung said Thai Nguyen will become one of the country’s major production hubs.

“Thai Nguyen always creates favorable conditions for investors to expand their production and business activities,” he said.

He would like Trina Solar to continue working closely with relevant local bodies to quickly finalize legal procedures to speed up investment and production.

Founded in 1997, Trina Solar primarily operates in researching, developing, manufacturing, and trading solar energy modules, solar power stations, and system products, as well as operations and maintenance services. It is ranked among China’s Top 500 manufacturers and the world’s Top 100 leading companies in the solar energy industry.
