EVN and EDF exchanged cooperation in the electricity transmission and distribution

– In Hanoi, Deputy General Director of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) Vo Quang Lam just had a meeting with the Asia-Pacific Regional Director of Electricity of France (EDF) International Networks, Mr. Lionel Besombes about the possibilities of cooperation in the electricity transmission and distribution. The meeting was connected online to the EDF representative point in the French Republic.

Mr. Vo Quang Lam said that EVN and its member units are managing more than 29,900 MW of power capacity, accounting for about 38% of the total capacity of Vietnam’s power system. At the same time, EVN is managing and operating the entire transmission lines to ensure the energy security of the country. EVN is serving about 30 million customers, with a growth rate of about 5%/year. EVN also achieved many achievements in digital transformation, improving the quality of electricity services, and bringing good experiences to customers.

At the meeting, Mr. Lionel Besombes and EDF experts at the online bridgehead in France exchanged some information and EDF’s experience on solutions to improve power quality on the grid and reduce losses, meter inspection, smart grid development…

Discussion topics were interacted and deeply exploited between EDF and EVN delegates. The two sides agreed to continue holding working sessions to exchange experiences and open up cooperative opportunities in the future.

EDF Group currently has about 39,000 employees, managing and operating about 1.4 million km of power lines, serving more than 37.2 million customers in France. EDF especially pays attention to improving and modernizing power grid operations and investing about 61 billion Euros in the period 2021 – 2035 for power system development.
